Using the information you provide to our health care professional, Katie E. Maclure, M.N., FNP-BC, we will assess your current health history for any pertinent conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and heart disease.
All current medications will be documented, and we will evaluate the possibility of drug interactions between your current medications and medications needed for your travel.
After reviewing your travel itinerary and health history, our health care professional will address the following considerations:
Your Travel Destination
What are the specific health risks in the country? What are the immunization requirements? Are there current disease outbreaks? Is it a politically stable area? Has the State Department posted warnings?
Will you be traveling to an area of high altitude, jungle, or desert?
Type of Travel
Will you be staying in a developed urban area or traveling to and staying in rural undeveloped areas?
Reason for Travel
Are you traveling for work or for pleasure? Will you primarily be in an office setting or out in the community blending with people or even animals?
Length of Stay
How long do you intend to stay in each area? Length of stay can determine your need for immunizations or treatments.
Your State of Health
Do you have chronic health conditions or allergies that need to be considered in your plans?
